‘Dear Evan Hansen’ Movie Reportedly Casts Kaitlyn Dever as Zoe

It feels like we could go on for forever thanks to this brand-new Dear Evan Hansen bombshell.

Kaitlyn Dever is reportedly in talks to star in Universal Pictures’ film adaptation of the stage musical, according to Deadline. You probably recognize the 23-year-old actress from her breakout roles in Unbelievable, Booksmart and Last Man Standing.

If true, Dever will play Zoe, Evan Hansen’s love interest. While Universal hasn’t confirmed any casting details, many believe that Ben Platt will reprise his character (Hansen) on the big screen.

Dear Evan Hansen tells the story of a socially awkward high school student, who gets caught up in a series of lies. It all starts when a classmate (Zoe’s brother) takes his own life. Evan pretends they’ve been close friends for years and, well, you get the idea.

We first learned about the Dear Evan Hansen film adaptation back in 2018. Steve Levenson (who wrote the musical’s book) will write the script alongside Stephen Chbosky (The Perks of Being a Wallflower), who will direct the movie. Marc Platt (La La Land) and Adam Siegel (Hotel Artemis) will serve as executive producers.

Dear Universal Pictures, please make this happen. Sincerely, everyone.
