Jennifer Lopez Introduced Child Emme with Gender Neutral Pronouns at Her Latest Gig Before the Two Sang a Surprise Duet

Jennifer Lopez had a surprise duet partner at her latest gig—one of her 14-year-old twins, Emme Maribel Muñiz.

The Hustlers actress was invited to perform at the Los Angeles Dance Foundation's Blue Diamond Gala on Thursday, June 16, where she decided to surprise the audience with an appearance from Emme. As Lopez welcomed her kid to the stage, she used they/them pronouns to refer to the 14-year-old.

“The last time we performed together was in a big stadium like this and I ask them to sing with me all the time, and they won't,” Lopez said, according to Entertainment Weekly. “So this is a very special occasion.”

She playfully added, “They are very, very busy. Booked. And pricey. They cost me when they come out.” But Lopez ended on a loving note, saying, “But they're worth every single penny because they're my favorite duet partner of all time. So if you will indulge me.”

Clips of the moment were shared to Twitter, like the video seen above, where J.Lo and Emme were captured singing a duet of the Christina Perri song, “A Thousand Years.”

As Lopez noted, this is not the first time she's shared the stage with Emme. When the Marry Me star kicked off her It’s My Party Tour back in 2019, the inaugural show featured a surprise appearance from Emme. The following year, when Lopez performed at the Super Bowl halftime show with Shakira, the 14-year-old made another surprise cameo.

Emme isn't the only musical child in the family though. Lopez's other twin child, Max, was seen belting it out in a video that J.Lo shared to Instagram in March 2020, where she recorded her son singing a solo in his school’s production of The Wizard of Oz.
