Jennifer Hudson’s Rendition of ‘Memory’ from ‘Cats’ Left Viewers in Awe

Major snaps are in order for Jennifer Hudson.

The 38-year-old former The Voice coach stopped by the show’s season 17 finale last night and performed a mesmerizing rendition of the iconic song “Memory” from Cats. If we’re being honest, it kinda left us a little misty-eyed. Just see for yourself.

Her voice is totally chill-inducing, right?

Hudson stars as Grizabella in Tom Hooper’s upcoming movie adaptation of the classic Broadway show. And since her character loves to bring the drama, Hudson dressed in an elegant evening dress and stepped out onto a stage full of fog and mystique with a full moon background for her Voice performance. Simply put, she brought it.

But this isn’t the first time we’ve heard Hudson’s beautiful voice belting out “Memory.” She can also be heard singing the song in the trailer for the movie, which features stars like Taylor Swift, Judi Dench and Idris Elba as human versions of cats.

Cats has received mixed reviews from critics and fans alike. The film failed to snag any Golden Globe awards other than a nod for Best Original Song for Swift and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Beautiful Ghosts” and fans were everything from less than stoked to horrified by the appearance of the cats. Still, we can all agree Hudson singing “Memory” is simply angelic.

Cats hits theaters on Friday, December 20. We’ll be listening to Hudson’s version of the classic on repeat until then (and trying, with our so-so voice, to match her vocal range).
