Zaya Wade Celebrated Her Birthday with a Pride/Medieval Theme & Parents Dwyane Wade & Gabrielle Union Dressed Up Too

Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade just gave their daughter, Zaya, the royal treatment in honor of her 13th birthday.

Over the weekend, the famous couple threw a medieval-slash-pride themed party at their home in California. They went all out for the celebrations, including full-blown costumes and a massive hedge sign that reads, “Zaya #13.”

While Union wore a patterned dress and headband, her stepdaughter stole the show in a velvet green gown that looks straight out of the Middle Ages. Zaya completed the ensemble with purple braids and a shiny crown (natch). Even Wade joined in on the fun, wearing a simple costume that resembles a Game of Thrones character.

“Best day!! So glad we were able to create a special day for her 13th birthday,” Union wrote on Twitter. “She was surrounded by love and had the best time!”

Zaya’s actual birthday was on May 29, but to due social distancing, she waited to celebrate. On Instagram, Union gushed over the teenager, writing, “You are such an inspiration and motivation to get my butt up every day and fight. When I’m weary, frustrated, full of rage, I see your face and your joy and you living your best life and I want that for all of us. I love you sooooo much kid!! Enjoy this day and everyday knowing you are loved, protected, respected, admired and celebrated.”

Wade also celebrated Zaya’s birthday on his personal Instagram account. “Waking up and watching you smile, watching you walk in your truth and live your life your way is one of the greatest gifts I’ve been able to experience in my life,” he wrote. “In a world where the color of your skin is deemed a threat you continue to be the bravest person I know and I’m gonna stand by your side until there isn’t any more standing left to do. I love you more than words can articulate.”
