Drew Barrymore Is Getting a New Talk Show—and We’re Totally Ready to Tune In

First there was Oprah Winfrey. Then there was Ellen DeGeneres. And now, Drew Barrymore is the latest celebrity to venture into daytime TV.

The Santa Clarita Diet actress, 44, is set to star in and executive produce an all-new CBS-syndicated talk show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

This isn’t the first time we heard about a potential daytime series that featured Barrymore. Back in 2016, the actress met with Warner Bros. about a possible deal, though nothing ever surfaced. Fast-forward to August 2019, and Barrymore confirmed that she filmed an hourlong pilot for CBS, which must have been a success.

“It is beyond my wildest dreams to have this opportunity for a daily talk show,” Barrymore said in a statement. “I’m truly thrilled and honored to be creating this show with CBS.”

The news comes just seven months after the third (and final) season of Santa Clarita Diet hit Netflix. Back in April, Netflix canceled the series and revealed that the cast is moving on to bigger and better things. (*Hint, hint*)

“The world had never known a ‘zom-com’ until Santa Clarita Diet, and we’re indebted to creator Victor Fresco for bringing this idea to Netflix,” the statement read.

Now that Barrymore’s new talk show is out of the bag, it all makes sense.
