Courteney Cox & Ed Sheeran Recreated the Classic Dance From ‘Friends’ (& Totally Nailed It)

It's been nearly three decades since Friends first aired on NBC, but given the fact that Courteney Cox recreated her infamous dance routine from the hit show, it truly feels like we've time-traveled back to the early 2000s.

Cox, who played Monica on the sitcom, teamed up with Ed Sheeran to pay tribute to the popular show by performing Monica and Ross's (David Schwimmer) routine from season six, "The One with the Routine." If you recall, the episode follows the on-screen siblings as they try to catch the attention of the camera crew on the set of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve by doing a dance number they created in high school.

Naturally, the two characters nailed their routine on the series. And now, several years later, Cox is proving that she's still got it. (OK, most of it.)

On Instagram, Cox posted a video of her and Sheeran doing the same dance, and it's already gotten more than 13 million views. While the duo get off to a solid start, the routine ends with both off them losing their balance and falling to the ground.

Cox captioned the video, “Just some routine dancing with a friend...#ReRoutine.” Meanwhile, Sheeran posted the same clip on his feed and said, “Had a reunion of our own this weekend. @courteneycoxofficial #theroutine #iknow #friends4eva #obviouslybetterthanross.”

As expected, hundreds of followers flooded Cox's comments section to gush about the routine—and even a few celebrities chimed in. Cox's co-star, Lisa Kudrow, simply wrote, "WOW!" And Kaley Cuoco added, "This is EPIC."

The funny clip comes shortly after HBO Max's premiere of the Friends reunion, where the main cast got to relive their best moments from the show. While speaking about the special with Ellen DeGeneres, Cox said, "It was unbelievable. It was so emotional. It’s an unscripted reunion, but we got to be on Stage 24 for the first time, all of us in, like, I forgot how many years. 15 years? 17 years?"

Fingers crossed that it doesn't take this long before we see the one with a second reunion.
