Channing Tatum Quit Social Media, but Before He Left He Told Us Why

While fun, social media is a total time suck. We know it, you know it and Channing Tatum definitely knows it (wait, what?).

The 39-year-old Magic Mike star revealed last week that he’s taking a break from the ’Gram for a surprising, but completely understandable reason. He shared the news to his more than 17 million Instagram followers with a candid note that’s since been deleted since, ya know, he shut down his Instagram.

“I’m gonna take a break and come off socials for a minute,” he wrote. “I’ve been trying to get inspired and create again. And to be honest I don’t really feel, or at least I haven’t felt very creative on social in the last couple years now.”

Tatum went on to say, “I’m gonna go and be just in the real world for a while and off my phone,” adding that he will “probably come back at some point” as long as it’s for the right reasons.

He concluded his goodbye and wrote, “If I do [return to social media] I want to have a direction or a clear point of view of why I’m on here and what I’m putting out there. Love ya! see ya after a while! Chan.”

Tatum’s endeavor to find more creativity in the everyday is totally understandable, but we have to admit, we’ll really miss seeing him and his abs on our daily scroll. Let’s hope he finds what he’s looking for sooner rather than later and returns to social media with even more zest (and naked balcony pics) than before.
