Is Cassie the Most Underrated Contestant on ‘The Bachelor’?

While last night’s episode of The Bachelor was all about the battle of the beauty queens (Hannah B and Caelynn), there’s another contestant that caught my eye: Cassie.

It’s important to point out that the girl gets, like, no screen time. But when she does, it’s clear that Colton Underwood is smitten, which is why I think she’s an early frontrunner.

First, Cassie seems pretty dang normal, and that’s saying a lot. (No offense, Demi.) When the one-on-one date went to Elyse, Cassie didn’t fake congratulate her like the other contestants. Instead, she turned to the producers with a heartfelt reaction, saying, “Pretty sad I didn’t get a date tonight, obviously. It’s hard to see someone else, like, get that when it’s something that you really want.”

Second, she has a career that isn’t “Instagram model.” You probably remember her from the season premiere as the speech pathologist from Huntington Beach, California. (You know, the one who stepped out of the limo with a box of butterflies.)

And finally, the proof is in the footage. Her time with Underwood was brief (thanks a lot, Hannah B. and Caelynn), but it’s the strongest connection I’ve seen so far.

After the second group date, Underwood couldn’t help but gush over their connection in an interview with the producers.

“When I’m around Cassie, I get butterflies in my stomach,” he said. “She’s cute and sexy at the same time. We have this natural chemistry. Every time I’m with her, I feel more comfortable, and I feel like I can be myself. And that’s what I’m looking for.”

Your move, Neil Lane. The Bachelor returns to ABC next Monday, January 28, at 8 p.m.
