Brooke Shields Tearfully Drops Off ‘Unique and Extraordinary’ Daughter Rowan at College

As a parent, it can be extremely hard to see your kids leave the house and Brooke Shields knows this all too well.

The 56-year-old actress just helped her oldest daughter, Rowan Francis Henchy, move into her dorm at Wake Forest University and she shared the emotional process on her Instagram account. “My unique and extraordinary baby girl spreading her wings,” she said. “I love you so.”

Shields shared a slideshow of pics and videos from throughout the day. The set included photos of the family posing in Rowan's new dorm room, including Shields, her husband Chris and their younger daughter, Grier. Meanwhile, Shields also took videos of Wake Forest's campus featuring buildings like the Wait Chapel.

It was the final video that was particularly moving, though. Shields filmed the sky as the family drove back home before she flipped the camera around and revealed that she was crying (a reaction that many parents can probably relate to).

“This was the saddest drive away from anywhere I’ve ever had to make,” Shields continued in the caption. “But my baby is BEGINNING one of the most important adventures of her life to date…NOW!”

We have gathered that Shields and her oldest daughter have a pretty close relationship, based on previous posts that the actress has made. Just a couple months ago, Shields lent Rowan a dress for prom that she herself had worn to the 1998 Golden Globes. Shields said, “I thought it was a special night when I was nominated for a Golden Globe and wore this dress in 1998, but nothing could have prepared me to see my daughter wearing it to her prom. Proud mama!”

We wish you all the best at college, Rowan!
