It appears that our favorite cheerleading saga will be getting a creepy spin next year. The cable network Syfy announced a list of titles they will release in late 2021 and throughout 2022, one of which included Bring It On: Halloween.

If you're wondering how the Bring It On franchise will receive the horror treatment, the official synopsis from Syfy says, "Held down by restrictive rules, an embattled cheerleading squad seeks the freedom of a creepy, closed school gym to practice for regionals, but when members of the squad start to disappear, the cheerleaders must unmask their assailant to save themselves."

Bring It On: Halloween is slated for release in 2022 on non-theatrical platforms. The film was produced by Universal 1440 Entertainment with a script by Dana Schwartz and Rebekah McKendry. The writing team was revealed in a tweet by Schwartz that said: "DID SOMEBODY SAY BRING IT ON SEQUEL???? I actually had the time of my life co-writing this cheerleader horror movie with the brilliant @RebekahMcKendry."

No other information has been shared as of yet, and we're anxious to know about the cast. When the first installment was released over twenty years ago, it brought huge success for its two leads, Kirsten Dunst and Gabrielle Union, but none of the movie's five direct-to-video sequels featured members from the original cast.

However, we might finally see the return of those original cheerleaders. Late last year in an exclusive conversation with PureWowUnion revealed that she had been working on a Bring It On sequel. She said, "This was something that me and Kirsten and [director] Peyton Reed talked about this summer, when we were celebrating the 20th anniversary. Obviously, there's been a lot of Bring It On sequels, but none that included the original cast or director, so it's something that we've been working on." Kirsten Dunst had previously said she was totally on board for a sequel too.

Fingers crossed that Union and Dunst return for this scary spin-off.
