Bobby Berk Says These 4 Home Trends Are About to Win 2019

For Queer Eye home design expert Bobby Berk, 2019 is the year of making small but meaningful home improvements that won’t break the bank.

Lucky for us, the 37-year-old Fab Five member just shared the four trends he expects to be everywhere this year with PureWow. So how can we bring our home up to 2019 speed? Berk has a few ideas.

Bold Accents: With Pantone’s color of the year Living Coral, it’s no surprise that bright accent walls, ceilings and even front doors will be popping up all around the neighborhood. Berk says a quick paint job will leave rooms and entryways looking more inviting. Noted.

Mixed Metals: Brass and copper had their moment, but mixed metals are all the 2019 rage. Berk looks to his “go-to hardware brand,” Schlage, to create “custom appeal at mass prices,” with everything from doorknobs to address numbers. Cost-effective and trendy? Say no more.

Black Kitchens & Bathrooms: Switching up the color scheme of your kitchen or bathroom doesn’t have to be an all or nothing kind of affair. Berk suggests swapping out small accessories like cutlery or room accents for matte or glossy black versions for simple changes that pack a punch.

Smart Homes: From Ring to Alexa to Schlage’s new WiFi Deadbolt (because who doesn’t forget to lock the door?), 2019 is the year to get on the smart home bandwagon. No more excuses, technophobes.

BRB, off to pick up paint samples.
