Beyoncé Singing ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight’ in the New ‘Lion King’ Is…Wow

If Beyoncé sang “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star,” we’d listen to it on repeat. So imagine our excitement when the 37-year-old 23-time Grammy winner’s new rendition of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” finally appeared in the new The Lion King teaser.

The brand-new TV spot just dropped, and it features Beyoncé and Donald Glover’s (aka Childish Gambino) never-before-heard cover of the classic Lion King tune.

It’s mellifluous. It’s everything we hoped for. It’s so Beyoncé. But Queen Bey and Glover’s new song isn’t the only glimpse of the live-action reboot we get from the teaser.

The 30-second clip also sets the scene for the new film. There’s the beautiful African landscape, there’s James Earl Jones as Mufasa telling little Simba (JD McCrary) that he’ll be gazing down at him from the stars one day and there’s even our pal Rafiki (voiced by John Kani). We also get a good look at that damned stampede that causes Mufasa’s death. Oh, and we see grown-up Simba traipsing through the pride land with Timon (Billy Eichner) and Pumbaa (Seth Rogen), and Simba and Nala cuddling (ooh, la la!).

Sadly, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” is the only song Beyoncé is confirmed to be singing in the film. In the original Lion King, Nala has a couple of lines in “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” as well, but that’s all. Hopefully they’ll find a way to work her into “Circle of Life,” “Hakuna Matata” and “Be Prepared,” because you can never have too much Beyoncé.

The Lion King hits theaters on Thursday, July 18. Guess what we’ll be singing until then…
