Beyoncé’s Former Makeup Artist Says This Unexpected Place Has the Best Lighting (& Meghan Markle Agrees)

Once upon a time, before she was royal, Meghan Markle did her makeup in the back of an Uber while casually chatting with makeup maven Bobbi Brown. It’s hard to fathom the 37-year-old Duchess of Sussex whipping up that Markle-sparkle in the back of a moving vehicle, but it happened and there’s actual footage. Well, it turns out she’s not the only trusted beauty source to champion doing your makeup in a car. Beyoncé’s former makeup artist is also a fan.

PureWow recently caught up with celebrity makeup artist Therese Williams and got all the beauty tips. We learned which five products Williams wouldn’t leave home without and the order in which she applies them. Oh, and her preferred venue for doing her own makeup.

Williams explained that she’s often pressed for time between work and raising four children (!), so she does her own makeup during the rare moments of alone time she has. Referencing her go-to buildable foundation, Mineral Air Foundation ($150), Williams explained, “I started keeping it in my car because that’s where I do my own makeup. It’s the best lighting and it’s the only place I have time to do it.”

Scheduling constraint aren’t a huge surprise for someone who has traveled the world with clients like Queen Bey, Céline Dion and supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio. The lighting aspect, however is kind of genius.

So next time we feel a little sense of shame while brushing on a coat of mascara at a stop light, we’ll think of this tip. Hey, if it’s good enough for Meghan Markle and a celeb makeup artist, it’s good enough for us. Just, ya know, remember to not glam and drive simultaneously.
