When we change our Instagram profile picture, we're lucky if our best friend in the world notices. When Beyoncé changes her Instagram profile picture, it's news—especially if it also relates to an upcoming project.
Queen Bey updated her social media by swapping out her old profile pic for a promotional image (seen above) from her upcoming visual album, "Black Is King."
In the stunning photo, Beyoncé wears a leopard print bodysuit and blinged out sunglasses while riding in a matching convertible that's surrounded by handsome, suit-clad men. Taken by photographer Travis Matthews, the shot is equal parts intense and glamorous—two things we've come to expect from anything Bey puts out.
“Black is King” will premiere globally on the Disney+ streaming service on July 31, 2020, on the heels of the one-year anniversary of the release of Disney’s global phenomenon The Lion King. The album reimagines the lessons of the classic film "for today’s young kings and queens in search of their own crowns."
In a press release, Disney+ said that, based on the music of “The Lion King: The Gift,” and starring the album's featured artists and some special guests, “'Black Is King'” is a celebratory memoir for the world on the Black experience. Videos for 'My Power,' 'Mood 4 Eva' and 'Brown Skin Girl' are extravagances of elegance and soul. The film is a story for the ages that informs and rebuilds the present. A reunion of cultures and shared generational beliefs. A story of how the people left most broken have an extraordinary gift and a purposeful future."
