Baby Archie Mountbatten-Windsor’s Baptism Is Likely Right Around the Corner

Believe it or not, it’s already been a month since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed their first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. And while peeping his chubby cheeks early last month was great and all, we’re eager for our next Baby Archie spotting. So when will we see the duke and duchess’s son again? The royal baby’s next outing is expected to be his baptism.

Royal tradition suggests that his baptism will take place when he’s 3 months old, so sometime in July. Prince William and Kate Middleton’s children were all christened in the Church of England at about three months of age, but Prince Harry and Markle are known for bucking tradition.

The palace has yet to announce Archie’s baptism details. However, since the Sussexes kept mum about his birth so they could celebrate his arrival privately, there is a chance the same will go for the baptism. In that case it’s likely the palace would share images of the special occasion several days afterward.

So, what else do we know? Well, it’s almost certain that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will have their little boy baptized at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Not only is it the place they wed last year, but it’s also where Prince Harry was baptized in 1984. It also doesn’t hurt that the church is a stone’s throw from their home, Frogmore Cottage.

Archie is expected to wear a family heirloom to his baptism, a lace Honiton christening gown. The original version of the gown was worn by Prince Harry as well as more than 60 other royal babies to their christening. In 2004 it was preserved and a replica was made. Prince George (5), Princess Charlotte (4) and Prince Louis (1) all wore the gown for their ceremonies.

The question remains: What will Meghan wear?
