American Horror Story: 1984 Just Released 4 New Teasers, and the ‘Psycho’ Parallels Are Chilling

With just over a month to go before American Horror Story's ninth season makes its creepy entrance, we're on pins and needles (er, knives) about what the new season will be like. Judging from the retro posters and slasher-film-themed trailers that were released recently, it seems AHS: 1984 will be just like Wet Hot American Summer meets an Alfred Hitchcock flick—but drawing inspiration from real-life serial killer sprees of the 1980s.

Now, FX just released four brand-new teasers from the Ryan Murphy–helmed show, and one of them is definitely a tribute to Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. (FYI: The horror mastermind's birthday was yesterday...coincidence? We think not.) Here they are, but fair warning: You're going to want to take a mental breather after all the slashing.

The latest season will be loaded with new faces—like Matthew Morrison (Glee), Angelica Ross (Pose), DeRon Horton (Dear White People), Zach Villa (Shameless) and Olympic freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy, who will play Roberts’s boyfriend—although they don't appear in these teasers.

Season nine will feature a number of familiar faces as well, including Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, John Carroll Lynch, Leslie Grossman and Cody Fern. Unfortunately, AHS veterans Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will not star in 1984. (The pair appeared in all eight earlier seasons of the show.) Billy Eichner (Cult, Apocalypse) is also calling it quits.

1984 will take place at Camp Redwood. These trailers dial up the campy slasher-horror-film-genre references and look to center around a group of teens who are terrorized by a masked knife-wielding killer (à la Scream?).

And here's the original teaser released on July 29...

AHS: 1984 premieres on September 18. (We'll be catching up on our shut-eye 'til then.)
