Jennifer Garner's Citrusy Recipe Takes Classic Lemonade to the Next Level

We're not ashamed to admit that we've been religiously tuning in to Jennifer Garner's Pretend Cooking Show on Instagram.

Without fail, the Yes Day star has been posting some of her best recipes—including her game-changing brownie-baked oatmeal (because why start the day without chocolate?). But today, we're turning our attention to her tasty lemonade recipe, which we'll definitely be making year-round.

On Instagram, Garner shared a video of herself making a batch and captioned the post, "Why does lemonade have to mean summer? Citrus is booming in LA, begging to be made into bright, sunshine filled, California Lemonade. You probably know this one, but what the heck—I like having the ratios handy."

Garner did her own take on a Simply Recipes rendition, but added her own exciting twist: different kinds of citrus.

How to Make Jennifer Garner's California Lemonade

Here's how to make Garner's multi-citrus lemonade.

Ingredients

  • 1 (or 3/4) cup sugar
  • 1 cup water (for simple syrup)
  • 4-6 lemons, or a mix of citrus, including oranges (keep in mind that this should make a full cup of freshly squeezed citrus juice)
  • 2-3 cups of cold water
  • Soda water

Step 1: To make the simple syrup. Place the sugar and 1 cup of water in a small saucepan and bring it to a simmer. Stir the mixture until all the sugar dissolves, then remove heat.
Step 2: Juice your citrus, but keep in mind that size and quantity will vary.
Step 3: Pour the juice and simple syrup into a serving pitcher and stir.
Step 4: Add 2-3 cups of cold water and stir. Refrigerate for 30 to 40 minutes
Step 5: Pour over ice.
Bonus step: Add some soda water if you’re thinking of giving your lemonade a little upgrade.
