Chipotle Just Shared Its Famous Guacamole Recipe (so Guac Never Has to Be ‘Extra’ Again)

There’s something about Chipotle guacamole that makes the extra fee seem minuscule when ordering a juicy burrito. And while we’ve never been able to replicate the mouth-watering dip at home, that’s all about to change.

Chipotle executive chef Chad Brauze recently shared the secret guacamole recipe on social media, so it’s time to start adding fresh avocados to your cart. Brauze hosted a 26-minute demonstration on his Instagram Live, where he detailed the step-by-step process before sharing three “super extra” variations (if you’re feeling adventurous).

“I’m gonna teach you guys how to make some awesome Chipotle guacamole just like we make it in the restaurant…I guarantee you it’s the same recipe, same style, same technique,” he said. “Not only that, but I’m also going to teach you how to make some super extra guac.”

Here’s Chipotle’s traditional guacamole recipe:

Ingredients:
2 ripe Hass avocados
2 tsp lime juice
2 tbsp cilantro (chopped)
1/4 cup red onion (diced)
1/2 jalapeño including seeds (diced)
1/4 tsp kosher salt

Step One: Cut avocados, remove seeds and mash into a bowl.
Step Two: In a separate bowl, combine diced onions, jalapeño and cilantro. Add lime juice, along with salt to taste.
Step Three: Combine the mixture with the avocados, using a “folding” technique to ensure optimum flavor.
Step Four: Taste and add more salt or lime juice, if necessary.

Taco Tuesday won’t know what hit it.
