A New Ride Is Coming to Disney World This April, and We’ve Got All the Details

Prepare to enter the TRON Grid.

Yesterday, Walt Disney World released details about its upcoming Magic Kingdom attraction, TRON Lightcycle / Run, which is based on the 1982 movie (and the 2010 sequel, TRON: Legacy). The theme park released a teaser video on social media and confirmed that the ride will open to the public on April 4.

The ride will bring passengers into the franchise’s digital realm, dubbed The Grid. While there, the riders will be assigned a team—blue or orange—and race their way through eight Energy Gates. (The goal is to score Victory Points against the other team.) According to the official website, TRON Lightcycle / Run will be one of Disney’s fastest coasters.

“Prepare to enter the Grid,” the caption read. “It’s almost your turn. Ready? TRON Lightcycle/Run opens at Magic Kingdom Park on 04/04/23.”

The new attraction was inspired by the original, TRON Lightcycle Power Run, at Shanghai Disneyland. Fans of Walt Disney World may have anticipated the announcement because the theme park teased the news on Twitter earlier this week.

The official Disney Parks Twitter account posted a “Clu” on social media. The video offered a glimpse of what the rankings will look like.

The caption read, “Need a Clu?”

We. Can’t. Wait.
