It should come as no surprise that Usher’s net worth is sky-high—$180 million, to be exact—given his decades-long career.

The eight-time Grammy winner, 45, boasts chart-topping albums, acting credits and several lucrative partnerships. To boot, he's also done multiple sold-out tours, and he's set to headline the Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show this month. In an official statement, Usher said, "It's an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. I can't wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they've seen from me before. Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen."

The “OMG” singer made headlines after the big announcement, and we're sure this gig will set the stage for another successful year. But we want to know: How exactly did Usher earn his fortune? Here's what we know about Usher's net worth.

1. What Is Usher’s Net Worth?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Usher is worth an estimated $180 million, thanks to his music career, business ventures and more. (Fun fact: In 2011, Forbes ranked him as the 12th highest-paid musician in the world for earning $46 million.)

2. How Much Did He Earn from His Music?

Usher is one of the best-selling artists of all time, having sold over 23 million albums in the United States and 65 million worldwide. Plus, he has nine Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles, and his Confessions album sold a record 1.1 million copies in the first week alone.

To date, he has released eight albums (soon to be nine, when he drops Coming Home on February 9) and eight extended plays. While his total earnings haven't been made public, we're pretty sure he got a pretty penny from those album sales.

3. What About His Tours & Residencies?

The "Yeah!" singer has headlined six tours and completed three concert residencies—one of which was in Paris, France. His earnings from these shows are unknown, but in 2004, he solidified his status as R&B royalty with his Truth Tour, which grossed an impressive $29.1 million.

Usher's total profits from his Vegas residencies haven't been confirmed, but we do know that other stars who've graced Las Vegas stages—like Lady Gaga, who reportedly earned around $1 million per night—made some serious cash. Since Usher is so huge in the music world, we wouldn't be surprised if he raked in millions.

4. What Was His Salary as a Coach on The Voice

Usher joined The Voice as a coach in season four, alongside Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Shakira. Then, he returned in season six and won with his team member, Josh Kaufman. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Usher made $7 million in the fourth season alone. Although his earnings for season six haven’t been confirmed, we’re guessing that he made at least $7 million.

5. What About His Partnerships and Investments?

Did you know that Usher has a stake in the Cleveland Cavaliers? In 2005, the R&B singer invested $9 million in the Cavaliers, which gave him a one percent stake in the team, according to Forbes. At the time, Dan Gilbert also purchased the franchise for $375 million, and according to Forbes, the Cavs are now worth a whopping $3.35 billion, which means both Gilbert and Usher are getting big returns on their investment. Usher told Forbes, “I know I have the talent to entertain. Now, I just want to be a great businessman.”

The artist stayed true to his word and proceeded to invest in Liquid I.V., a successful wellness brand, as well as Tidal, a streaming service co-owned by A-listers like Rihanna, Madonna and Beyoncé. Per Variety, each partner received three percent in equity of Tidal, which means Usher took home a cool $8.9 million following his investment.

Mastercard, Samsung, Pepsi and Microsoft are a few other brands Usher endorsed throughout his career, although his earnings haven't been made public.

6. Does He Have Real Estate?

According to Architectural Digest, Usher sold a five-bedroom Hollywood Hills home for $4.2 million in 2018. Also, in 2013 (per Celebrity Net Worth), he sold his 13,000-square-foot estate in Georgia for $2.2 million, and his 2,908-square-foot Atlanta home for $775,000.

7. How Much Will He Earn for the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show?

One would think that a gig as major as the Super Bowl Halftime Show would lead to a hefty paycheck, but as it turns out, Usher will not get paid by the NFL for the big performance.

Unbeknownst to several fans, it's pretty common for these artists to not get compensated for their shows during the Super Bowl. An NFL spokesperson told Forbes in 2016, “We do not pay the artists. We cover expenses and production costs.”

Still, there's a long history of artists seeing a surge in their music sales after they perform. For instance, Variety reported that Rihanna's Spotify streams increased by 640 percent after she performed last year, so this still counts as a major win for Usher, if you ask us.
