Netflix Just Dropped a Major New Feature to Help Stop Endless Scrolling

We’re extremely familiar with the process of scrolling through Netflix in an attempt to find something that’s somehow better than the 100+ titles we’ve already passed. That’s why we’re pleased to announce that the streaming service has launched an all-new feature that will (supposedly) make indecision a thing of the past.

Introducing “Play Something.” Netflix just launched the game-changing button, which is designed to automatically suggest new shows and movies that may (or may not) be on your radar.

If the idea sounds familiar, it’s probably because you’re thinking of Netflix’s “Suggestions for You” section, which offers related—and often random—recommendations after finishing a movie or TV show. However, the “Play Something” button is so much more.

Instead, the function uses your existing profile to create a database of titles that have a high chance of ending up on your streaming queue. This can be anything from a new release to an old throwback movie that’s been sitting on your watchlist for months. (#Guilty)

Netflix has plans to launch “Play Something” across all devices, but it’s now available on TV-based versions of the Netflix app. The button can be found in three key places: 1. Underneath your profile during log-in. 2. The navigation bar (located on the left side of the screen). And 3. Netflix’s homepage (scroll down to the tenth row).

We’re counting on you, Netflix.
