Lindsey Vonn and her pup, Lucy, are pairing up to host an Amazon series that will (most likely) become every dog lover's newest obsession.
The dynamic duo are working with Amazon to spearhead the upcoming dog competition series, The Pack. As you've probably already guessed, there will be no shortage of dog entertainment and human-canine bonding. But who will be participating in the show? And when will it air? Think The Amazing Race, but with dogs and their humans. Renegade 83 and Amazon Studios have teamed up to create this competition series, which will focus on teams of dog-and-human duos as they go through a number of challenges to win a grand prize.
Albert Cheng, co-head of television at Amazon Studios, explained, “The Pack is an uplifting and exhilarating new unscripted series, celebrating one of the most unique and universally-recognized relationships we have—between people and their best friends. Our Amazon Prime customers around the world will go on an adventure unlike any other as these impressive dogs and their humans navigate challenges as teams, making a difference along the way.”
The challenges will be taking place across multiple continents, although further details haven't been given regarding specific locations.
According to Deadline, the show will have 12 teams of dogs and their humans. Casting information hasn't been released, but so far, we know that Renegade 83's David Garfinkle, former Survivor showrunner Jay Bienstock and Jay Renfroe will be executive producing. Olympic medalist Vonn will also be hosting alongside Lucy, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel that she adopted in 2016.
Vonn said, "I have overcome many obstacles in life, but one thing that has reigned true during good times and bad has been the love of my dogs. Like many times before, Lucy will be by my side on yet another one of life’s adventures, and I’m excited for everyone to watch and cheer on these incredible contestants and their beloved companions."
The winning dog and human duo will take home a total of over $500,000, plus an additional $250,000 to donate to any charity or animal rescue organization of their choice.
Though the show was already filmed earlier this year, a release date has yet to be revealed. However, according to Deadline, the series will premiere sometime in 2020.
