We've still got a week until the 94th Academy Awards, but we already have an idea as to what film could win Best Picture on Hollywood's biggest night.
Last night, at the 33rd annual Producers Guild Awards, the producers of CODA—Fabrice Gianfermi, Philippe Rousselet and Patrick Wachsberger—took home the top prize for Best Theatrical Motion Picture, also referred to as the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures.
As Deadline pointed out, with the Apple TV+ original taking home the Best Picture award, this is the first time in the history of the PGAs that a streaming film has won this prize. Meanwhile, it also suggests that CODA has a good chance of winning Best Picture when the Academy Awards roll around next Sunday, March 27.
