The moment Thanksgiving’s in the rearview, we turn the holiday cheer up a few dozen notches and take in all the Christmas songs we possibly can for the rest of the year. That’s why we’re beyond psyched about Carrie Underwood’s Christmas special, which HBO Max just dropped the trailer for today.
Available to stream starting December 3, “My Gift: A Christmas Special from Carrie Underwood” stars the American Idol alum, who performs both traditional favorites and original songs from her first full-length holiday album, “My Gift.” Underwood is accompanied by her band, a live orchestra and choir, plus sings a special duet with John Legend. Even more heartwarming is the behind-the-scenes look at Underwood’s experience recording “Little Drummer Boy” with her five-year-old son.
The overarching theme is joy and hope (she obv knows we can all use some), but our guess is after months of concert-free quarantine, seeing a live performance on a real stage will have us feeling the holiday spirit from the start.
