1. ‘Lovesick’

Who’s in it? Johnny Flynn, Antonia Thomas, Daniel Ings

What’s it about? Hear us out: This series (originally called Scrotal Recall) is hilarious, endearing and romantic. Dylan has just been told that he has an STD. Now he’s forced to contact every single woman he’s ever had sex with in order to tell them the news. See past the cheeky title and give this funny little story a shot.

2. 'THE FALL'

Who’s in it? Gillian Anderson, Jamie Dornan, John Lynch

What’s it about? Told from the perspective of two hunters—a serial killer hiding behind a family facade and a detective trying to catch him, all three seasons of the 2013 show are a ongoing cat and mouse game that also goes inside the mind of the characters as they battle their own personal demons.

3. ‘CALL THE MIDWIFE’

Who’s in it? Vanessa Redgrave, Bryony Hannah, Helen George

What’s it about? This period drama set in impoverished East London welcomes viewers to life in the East End during the late 1950s. Young women living in a convent hilariously, and sometimes tragically, navigate a new way of life in a setting stubbornly resistant to the changing times. And did we mention there’s nine seasons to stream?

4. ‘Peaky Blinders’

Who’s in it? Cillian Murphy, Sam Neill, Helen McCrory

What’s it about? Peaky Blinders is a gang in 1919 Birmingham, England, run by Thomas Shelby. His goal is to expand the family business via illegal bets, illicit firearms and plenty of shady deals (and, apparently, he’ll stop at nothing to do so).

Who’s in it? Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, Una Stubbs

What’s it about? The series puts a modern spin on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s renowned detective stories, following a war vet who crosses paths with the iconic Sherlock Holmes played by the incomparable Benedict Cumberbatch.

6. ‘The Great British Baking SHow’

Who’s in it? Mary Berry, Paul Hollywood, Noel Fielding,

What’s it about? Perhaps the most comforting and relaxing reality TV series ever made, The Great British Baking Show is for bakers and non-bakers alike. It’s really a competition to find Britain’s best baker, however, the series is really just about everyone being super nice and supportive to each other while whipping up some extravagant treats.

7. ‘Broadchurch’

Who’s in it? David Tennant, Olivia Colman, Jodie Whittaker

What’s it about? When 11-year-old Danny is found murdered on the beach, Detective Sergeant Ellie Miller attempts to solve the case, despite her close relationship with the mourning family.

8. ‘Derry Girls’

Who’s in it? Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Louisa Harland, Nicola Coughlan

What’s it about? In this show set in Northern Ireland in the '90s, the ladies of Derry Girls are a group of teenagers who are navigating their way through Catholic high school. Messy and loud and absolutely hilarious, Erin, Orla, Clare and Michelle are among the most lovable main characters we've seen in a while.

9. ‘Crashing’

Who’s in it? Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Jonathan Bailey, Julie Dray

What’s it about? Phoebe Waller-Bridge (before her Fleabag days) writes and stars in this quirky comedy-drama. Crashing follows the interwoven stories of six 20-something roommates living in disused hospital building and all of the shenanigans that comes with it. (We kind of think of it like a British Friends).

10. 'THE END OF THE F***ING WORLD'

Who’s in it? Jessica Barden, Alex Lawther, Naomi Ackie

What’s it about? Based on Charles Forsman’s graphic novel of the same name the show tells the story of, James and Alyssa who, despite having nothing in common, decide joining forces to find Alyssa’s estranged father, despite the fact that James is a self-proclaimed “psychopath” who is determined to kill his rebellious classmate. We can’t make this stuff up.

11. ‘Sex Education’

Who’s in it? Asa Butterfield, Gillian Anderson, Ncuti Gatwa

What’s it about? This Netflix comedy follows Otis, the high school-aged son of a sex therapist who, though he struggles exquisitely when it comes to taking his own words of wisdom, starts a secret sex advice business with a new friend and potential crush. The series was recently renewed for a third season, but there’s still plenty of time to catch up on the first two.

12. ‘COllateral’

Who’s in it? Carey Mulligan, John Simm, Nicola Walker

What’s it about? In this four-part police drama, a London-based detective is assigned to investigate the shooting of a pizza delivery man. However, it’s not long before she unravels a tangled web of conspiracy involving drug dealers, smugglers and spies.

Who’s in it? Matthew Macfadyen, Jerome Flynn, Adam Rothenberg

What’s it about? We’re talking about Jack the Ripper, people. This drama follows a community in East London six months after the infamous serial killer committed his latest murder. But is he done? We promise all five seasons of this thriller will definitely have you on the edge of your seat.

What’s it about? There’s no denying we’re all on a bit of a home improvement kick right now. Enter, this series where a professional designer helps people make their dream homes reality. From initial construction to the final interior details, Grand Designs is sure to give you some design inspo of your own.

Who’s in it? Richard Madden, Keeley Hawes, Gina McKee

What’s it about? The terror thriller follows war hero David Budd who now works as a Specialist Protection Officer for the Royalty and Specialist Branch of the London Metropolitan Police Service. But when he’s assigned to protect Home Secretary Julia Montague his beliefs and his station come into conflict.

Who’s in it? Ashley Walters, Kane Robinson, Micheal Ward

What’s it about? Set in a public housing estate, Top Boy follows two seasoned drug dealers as they return to the gritty streets of London. Unfortunately, it’s not long before but their plans to gain money and power (and becomes they area’s “Top Boys”) gets thwarted by another young hustler who is looking to do the same.

17. ‘The Inbetweeners’

Who’s in it? Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison

What’s it about? One of the oldest series on this list, this coming-of-age sitcom debuted in 2008 and focuses on the misadventures of a suburban teenager and his friends at a fictional school. It covers all the bases, teenage angst, building friendships and failed sexual encounters.
