A photo was shared to The Royal Family’s official Instagram this morning, showing a studio camera in the Blue Drawing Room. “The Blue Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace has been transformed into @bbctheoneshow studio as we mark 100 days to go until the #PlatinumJubilee celebration weekend,” read the caption. “This evening’s show will be broadcast live from Buckingham Palace…to showcase the different ways you can get involved to celebrate this landmark event.”
For the uninitiated, the Platinum Jubilee is a celebration of the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s place on the throne. She is the first British monarch in history to reach this milestone.
Festivities will take place all year long throughout the U.K., including a four-day holiday weekend in June that allows the community to come together in her honor. Celebrations include public events and activities, like the Platinum Pudding competition—a nationwide baking competition that aims to find a brand new pudding dedicated to the Queen—a birthday parade for Her Majesty, a tree planting initiative called The Queen’s Green Canopy and an epic party at the Palace.
You’ll have to set up a virtual private network service to watch The One Show tonight, since it’s only accessible to British servers. But we’re anticipating plenty of details on the episode to reach the States tomorrow. Might we suggest making the official royal recipe for Victoria sponge cake to celebrate?
