You know the saying, "you can't be everything to everyone?" The same could be said about the hundreds of beauty products that claim to be "for all skin types." Skin comes in many different types and tones and each has their own unique set of challenges that require more personalization than what's been offered in the past.
"40% of Americans today are people of color, but there isn’t market research or quality products to take care of our melanin-rich skin needs," says Esi Eggleston-Bracey, COO of Beauty and Personal Care for Unilever North America.
This lack of attention to Black and Brown skin is what led Eggleston and Sarah Irby, the Brand Director for Unilever North America, to create MELĒ, a skincare line that's formulated specifically to care for the most common concerns of melanin-rich skin such as sun damage, dark spots and uneven skin tone.
Meticulously developed with a collective of dermatologists of color and a community lab of influencers and skincare enthusiasts, the five-piece line includes a daily post-cleanse tonic, a dark spot control serum, a pore minimizing serum, an oil-free cream and a sheer sunscreen.
