The Half-Crown Braid That’s Perfect for Curly Hair

Curly-haired gals, this one’s for you. Yes, braids look pretty no matter what hair type you’re dealing with, but we’ve gotta say this voluminous crown braid is perfect for showcasing gorgeous coils. Here’s how to do the ’do yourself.

Step 1: Start with wet hair. Run a curl-defining cream through your strands from middle to end.

Step 2: Give yourself a side part. Gather hair from the part and do a Dutch braid across the top of your head, keeping toward your hairline. Sometimes called an inside-out French, the Dutch braid is similar in that you continue adding pieces of hair as you go, however, instead of crossing the strands over one another, you should have them cross under one another.

Step 3: Right before you reach your ear, tie the braid off with a hair elastic and secure in place with a few bobby pins.

Step 4: Loosen the braid a bit and let the rest of your hair do its natural thing. Looking good, girl.
