Your Weekly Horoscopes: November 1 to 7, 2020

For the last few weeks, as Mercury has been retrograde, all we’ve wanted is clarity. And this week we get that information. But beware: When it rains, it pours. Just like city and state election boards across the nation, each of us—on a personal level—are receiving an overwhelming influx of ideas and opinions. Quick-witted Mercury ends its retrograde (phew!) and starts moving forward in Libra, the sign of Justice itself, on the 3rd—yes, that November 3rd. And though this gets things going again, locating our lost packages and fixing our broken iPhones, we aren’t out of the woods yet! Mercury may be moving forward but it’s still moving very slowly. We have to take our time with what we now know.

On both the 1st and the 6th, Mercury squares off with steady, contemplative Saturn, an aspect found in the charts of deliberate, epic-making perfectionists like Julia Child, Lord of the Rings author JRR Tolkien as well as the series’ film director, Peter Jackson! This energy forces us to consider and reconsider everything that’s come out of the woodwork. Let’s not push ourselves. It’s time to slow down, digest what’s happened and make a plan.

(Horoscopes follow for each sign. If you know your rising sign, reading for that will provide further insight.)

7 scorpio

On the 3rd, Mercury stations direct in your unconscious sector, and you’re content with being at a remove. Though rest and recuperation are always a good thing, as life slowly begins to pick up the pace, you realize that you’ve dropped the ball on making plans with several friends. It’s not that no one was texting you, it’s that you weren’t texting back! Reach out to your favorite people this week and whether it’s a FaceTime, a park walk or quirk car trip, get yourself back out there. Don’t make yourself obscure!

This week’s mantra: Someone is always thinking of you.

8 sagittarius

You’ve done so much work to make yourself feel secure—especially over the last month—and throughout this week, you keep running into the same problem. You don’t have the same values as some of your friends. What seems worthless to you is your BFF’s treasure. What you consider sacred is a joke to your favorite co-worker. As Mercury stations direct on the 3rd, you realize that you’ve slacked off on some important commitments. Only give your energy to those who really see you.

This week’s mantra: What’s important to you is always important.

“What should I do with my life?” has been your constant refrain since mid-October. The good news is that as Mercury stations retrograde on the 3rd, you’re able to clear up the lingering confusion over what your next steps should be. The bad news is that those next steps are only possible if you’re willing to get out of your own way and do all that nitty-gritty work. Focus on that life admin you’ve been avoiding as the pieces come together. A brilliant idea may come to you as you wait in line at the DMV.

This week’s mantra: Making it work requires work.

10 aquarius

Mercury retrograde has been wonderful for catching up on projects at the office and, if you’re in grad school, it’s been an excellent time to block everyone else out and study. But as the communication planet stations direct on the 3rd, you’re pulled out of your productivity cocoon and reminded of some sticky personal dynamics that you’d rather forget. How can you let go of your need to control everything while still making your mark as a leader?

This week’s mantra: It’s not always up to you.

11 pisces

What have you put on the backburner? This Mercury retrograde—since October 13th—has been spiritually inspiring, but it’s also had you feeling super distant from your partner or BFF. When you give so much, it’s hard to feel like no one has time for you! But as Mercury stations direct on the 3rd, issues at home or with your family resurface. Whether it’s confronting a moody roommate, figuring out a holiday plan or starting an apartment search, it’s time to negotiate and clean up the house. Acknowledge your power.

This week’s mantra: Happiness starts at home.

12 aries

It’s time to pause and clean up the mess. Mercury stations direct on the 3rd in the part of your chart that’s all about commitments and contracts. As much as the last few months have been colored by the frustration of not being heard—at work and in your relationship—how has all this stress affected your schedule and routines? Moments of stillness, whether that’s a sound bath, a yoga class or a visit to the acupuncturist, gives you a better idea of how to move forward.

This week’s mantra: Get back into a routine.

1 taurus

Whether you pulled off a cross-country move in a pandemic, finished a grad school course or just finally finished a book, you did it! Congrats! The last few weeks of grinding away have paid off. But as Mercury stations retrograde on the 3rd, you’re made to face some pesky financial matters. You’ve gotten this far, but how are you going to pay for it? Now’s the time to brainstorm. Get creative! You might have to cancel a date or reschedule a party for the kids but it’s worth it to get things in order.

This week’s mantra: Everything costs something.

2 gemini

You’ve been questioning the power dynamics in a new relationship—whether it’s for business or pleasure—and as your ruling planet Mercury stations direct on the 3rd, you realize the whole of the situation. Whether you’re on the right track or you’ve been led astray, how have you neglected your self-care while caught up in all the stress? Your dark roots are showing, and your apartment is a wreck, so slow down and take care of yourself. A long phone call with your mom or an old friend boosts your spirits and your confidence.

This week’s mantra: Peace comes when you acknowledge the problem.

3 cancer

Your Mercury retrograde journey has been all about revisiting past romances and abandoned creative projects. As fun as it has been to luxuriate in these nostalgic vibes, is all of it worth keeping around? As Mercury stations direct on the 3rd, you’re reminded that not every memory suits your current schedule. Now’s the time to consider how your skills can best serve your community and the greater collective. It’s a great time to volunteer with a neighborhood cleanup or mutual aid group. The real work is what lies ahead.

This week’s mantra: Focus on the present.

4 leo

As Mercury stations direct in your communication sector on the 3rd, you’re met with a barrage of emails, phone calls and texts from everyone and their sister. Aren’t you glad you spent all that time tediously cleaning out your inbox—if you haven’t yet, it’s not too late! All the tensions that have been building at home are finding their way to a solution. Phew. But as they do, you realize that you’ve overlooked some longer-term financial planning. A quick catch up with a friend or co-worker whose money savvy you admire is a good start to getting back on track.

This week’s mantra: Don’t buy it unless you need it.

5 virgo

You’ve been diligently organizing your personal finances and catching up with old friends for the last few weeks. But as your ruling planet Mercury stations direct on the 3rd, you get a harsh reality check. You’ve been taking care of personal business, but you missed a major deadline or career opportunity along the way. Now’s the time to use some of that type-A charisma to win back what’s rightfully yours. You love to bring order to everyone else’s chaos, why not work the same magic on your own?

This week’s mantra: It’s OK to break the rules when you do it with style.

6 libra

What’s your next frontier? The last few weeks have afforded you extra time to reshuffle your budgets and take care of yourself and as Mercury stations direct in your sign on the 3rd, you really do feel more aware of your body and your needs. As you integrate some new routines ––whether that’s a keto diet, a Pilates regimen or regular bubble baths–– what you’re craving is more knowledge. Maybe even a mentor. Try not to get too existential about it but slow down and figure out what it is you need to learn.

This week’s mantra: Guidance is on the way.
