We Finally Have the Trailer for 'Wonder Woman 1984' (and Kristin Wiig Totally Steals the Show)

Gal Gadot is bringing us back to the ’80s.

Warner Bros. released the first trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 on Sunday, showcasing the return of the lasso-of-truth-swinging superhero Diana Prince.

In the trailer, we see both new faces and a few familiar ones from the first 2017 film (like Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor). We’re introduced to Kristen Wiig as one of the most notorious comic book villains, archaeologist Barbara Minerva, also known as the human-cat hybrid Cheetah. In the clip, it seems that she starts as a close friend of Diana’s, but eventually their friendship takes a turn for the worse. The trailer also reveals The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal as businessman Maxwell Lord.

Gadot and returning director Patty Jenkins introduced the trailer at Comic-Con Experience in Brazil, where they teased the film’s 1980s setting.

“In the first movie, we got to establish the story of Diana becoming Wonder Woman,” Gadot said. “In this movie, we’re going to find Diana in 1984. She’s quite lonely. She lost all of her friends over the years, and she’s doing what she needs to do. She’s doing her calling. She’s helping mankind and saving them—until something crazy is about to happen to her.”

And if the action-packed trailer isn't enough, Warner Bros. also dropped four new character posters, for Diana, Steve, Barbara and Maxwell.
