Is Arya Running from White Walkers in the ‘GoT’ Season 8 Trailer?

One of the biggest questions on everyone's mind after watching the new Game of Thrones season eight trailer (released on Tuesday) was what the hell Arya Stark was running from while she was down in the crypts of Winterfell. (Oh, and also: Is Jon Snow gonna ride a dragon?!)

But, back to Arya. What’s she running from, you guys?! Could this one fact (which HBO tried to scrub from the trailer) be the key to all of season eight? Is it her father, Ned Stark, reincarnated from the dead? (Here’s the case for why Dead Ned’s not really dead. And, yes, that’s also the name of my next album.)

Or, could it be a couple of While Walkers that Arya is fleeing from? For one, HBO blackened out the person or persons chasing Arya (a brightened version from Inverse can be found here, but still doesn’t reveal anything), which means that whatever it is needs to be kept under wraps to not spoil season eight. If it’s White Walkers, then their presence in the crypts means they’ve gotten inside Winterfell, and from that point, we can infer that they’re close to winning the battle. (Four-letter words. Four-letter words. Four-letter words.)

There’s also that black dagger Arya can be seen holding in the trailer (minute mark 0:22). It could be black because it’s made of Dragonglass, which is one of the only materials that can kill White Walkers, making the case that wights are chasing her in this trailer even stronger.

Season eight of Game of Thrones premieres on April 14. ’Til then, we’ll be practicing our Forrest Gump impression: “Run, Arya, run!!!!!”
