Tracee Ellis Ross Channels Both Grace Jones & Mom Diana Ross at Last Night’s Met Gala

When we first laid eyes on Tracee Ellis Ross’s Met Gala ensemble last night, we were immediately drawn to her statement blue coat dress. However, it turns out there are a ton of details that we originally missed.

The Black-ish actress attended the annual gala at Metropolitan Museum of Art in a royal blue, wrap-style maxi dress from Balenciaga Couture. Ross topped off her look with a statement bob and over $750,000 worth of jewelry from Tiffany and Co. (Yes, you read that correctly.) Per In Style, the pieces included diamond earrings, two bracelets and a matching ring. We’re not surprised the 48-year-old rocked the jewels, considering she’s an ambassador for the brand.

And those aren’t the only details that mattered. When Ross shared her stunning look on Instagram, she revealed she was inspired by Jamaican-American model and performer, Grace Jones, as well as one of her mother Diana Ross’s most iconic roles in the 1975 film Mahogony. She captioned the photo, “Giving a little Mahogany & Grace Jones in @balenciaga couture & @tiffanyandco #metgala.”

It didn’t take long for fans to ogle over the ensemble in the comments section. One follower wrote, “I thought pink was your color but maybe it's blue. or yellow, or green, or red… always stunning, mama!” Another individual was even inspired by the outfit, adding, “Absolutely Amazing! I’m going to dreaming all night how to use this color blue in my next painting.”

Royal blue and diamonds is our new favorite combo.
