Every summer, we take stock of the sandals in our closets from years past. Wedge-y espadrilles? We see you. Cute but impractical slides? Hey there (also, bye!). Ultimately, it doesn’t matter what we wore last July, because a new trendy option is already destined to come into our lives and steal our hearts. This year, it’s the “Strippy.”
This barely-there design, which is Topshop’s most popular strappy sandal, was introduced way back in the depths of winter…and sold out within days. Now, the Strippy is back in stock—in three new colors, no less.
The minimalist sandals have a decidedly ’90s feel with a square toe, a spindly heel and a not-too-intimidating maze of skinny straps. Here’s why we love ’em: They’re practical (aka they won’t fall off your feet), versatile (dressy enough for dinner but also plays well with slouchy jeans) and oh so nostalgic (our true weakness). They’re basically the opposite of our summer sandal arch-nemesis, the heeled flip-flop. It’s no wonder they sold out so fast the first time around. The only real decision: which color to choose—lime, cream or snake-print?
Per Topshop, “The sandals first hit down online and in stores back in February, and sold-out within a few days. The sandals were quickly restocked in black and red and have remained our best-selling style ever since.”
