The Spanish Royal Family Released Their Christmas Card—and It Looks a Little Different This Year

‘Tis the season: Queen Letizia and King Felipe of Spain have released their 2022 Christmas card. But, instead of seeing the entire family pose for a photo together, the royals have chosen to put a different spin on things.

According to Hello! Magazine, the royal couple released their annual holiday card. However, the pair weren’t featured in the snap. Rather, they chose to give their daughters the spotlight.

In the photo (see above), Infanta Sofia (15) is seen giving her big sister, Princess Leonor (17), a big hug as they posed in front of a background fully engulfed in bright autumn leaves. The stunning location, you ask? The young royals took the picture in the Zarzuela Palace Gardens located in Madrid. (And we can’t get over how grown up they are!)

The princesses signed the card and sent a special message to everyone. The note read: “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2023. Very affectionately and with our best wishes.”

The Spanish royal family are not the only ones to release their annual Christmas card. Earlier this month, the Prince and Princess of Wales unveiled their Christmas card photo for the year. In the photo shared to the couple’s Instagram account, the Wales family are casually walking together and holding hands while wearing their coordinating navy blue and white outfits.

The caption read, “Sharing a new picture of the family for this year’s Christmas card!” with a tree emoji.

Wishing a very happy holiday to the royal family!
