Sarah Hyland, Emily V. Gordon and the 'This Is Us' Showrunners Are Teaming Up on a New Comedy

This Is Us...freaking out about Sarah Hyland's next big project.

The Modern Family star, along with The Big Sick's Emily V. Gordon, will team up for a new comedy. The new show, which got the green light from ABC to shoot a pilot, will come from 20th Century Fox and the showrunner duo behind This Is Us...aka it's got our name written all over it.

Not a lot's known about the untitled project yet, though it will be semi-autobiographical in nature, according to Deadline, aka it'll be inspired by both Hyland and Gordon's real-life experiences.

Gordon's film The Big Sick was also loosely based on her life and the start of her relationship with (now-husband) Kumail Nanijani (Silicon Valley, Marvel's Eternals), so we're expecting to see some elements of that award-winning film in the new comedy series.

Hyland, who became engaged to Bachelor in Paradise's Wells Adams in July, has played Haley Dunphy on ABC's Modern Family for 11 seasons, with the final season premiering this September. Now we know what's next for the 28-year-old (and it's not a Haley Dunphy-based Modern Family spinoff...yet).

Just one question: Will Wells Adams's Bachelor Nation involvement make it to the small screen in one way or another, since the new comedy will be loosely based on Hyland's life?

A girl can dream (of ABC crossovers, obvi)...
