Sarah Ferguson Pens Sweet Response to Queen Elizabeth’s Televised Address

Sarah Ferguson didn't hesitate to respond to Queen Elizabeth’s important public address to the U.K.

The 93-year-old made a special speech to the public Sunday, regarding the current coronavirus pandemic. And 24 million people tuned in on TV alone to hear her message, according to the BBC.

Shortly after the broadcast aired, the 60-year-old Duchess of York shared her thoughts in a heartfelt slideshow on Instagram, which featured one photo of Her Majesty and another of the Royal Standard flag. She even quoted a part of the speech in her caption.

“Her Majesty’s words touched my core and inspired us to never give up,” she wrote. “To unite as we have before. To never forget the British humour and to remember... ‘We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return: we will be with our friends again; we will be with our families again; we will meet again.’”

During the five-minute speech, Queen Elizabeth also recognized that while she was addressing the country domestically, this is truly a global issue.

“While we have faced challenges before, this one is different,” she continued. “This time we join with all nations across the globe in a common endeavour, using the great advances of science and our instinctive compassion to heal. We will succeed—and that success will belong to every one of us.”
