The Royal Family Gathered on the Buckingham Palace Balcony, But One Notable Face Was Missing

If there's a major royal family event, you better believe the British royals are gonna gather on the Buckingham Palace balcony to wave to the cheering crowds. So naturally, with King Charles's coronation, the family gathered in their favorite spot. But there was one notable figure who was missing: Prince Harry, 38.

While the Duke of Sussex joined his family for the crowning (sitting beside his cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie), he was nowhere to be found once the royals gathered on the balcony.

However, members who were present included Prince William, Princess Catherine and their three kids—Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. They were joined by the Duke of Edinburgh, the Earl of Wessex, Lady Louise Windsor, Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence, the Duchess of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal, King Charles and Queen Camilla. Plus, all four of the king's Pages of Honour (including George, Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, Master Nicholas Barclay and Master Ralph Tollemache) were present.

There have been a few noteworthy balcony moments in the past couple years. For instance, during the late Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee, she started to feel a little under the weather towards the end of the festivities, opting to stay home for a few of the events. However, she completely surprised the crowds when she appeared on the balcony during the final event.

Of course, who could forgot young Prince Louis's iconic reaction to a flypast earlier that same week? If you don't remember, Prince Louis had a very visceral reaction to the sound of the aircrafts, and it quickly transformed into a meme-worthy moment. (And this year, he brought plenty of his priceless expressions once again.)

It has been a tradition for the royals to gather on the balcony ever since 1851, when Queen Victoria stepped onto it in honor of the opening of the Great Exhibition.

While we missed Prince Harry, he's likely jetting back home to be with his family (and celebrate with his son, Prince Archie, who turned 4 years old today). We can't blame him.
