Rihanna Shares Surprise Teaser for the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show (and We’re So Excited for This)

RiRi. Has. Arrived.

Just hours ago, the Grammy-award-winning singer released the first trailer for her Super Bowl halftime show. In the 30-second teaser, Rihanna is rocking an all-black ensemble with a vibrant green fur coat and numerous silver chains draped around her neck.

As she struts down an empty runway, past interview clips about her six-year hiatus and her return to music play in the background of the video. “Dude, Rihanna, we’ve waited for you,” a voice says. And one asks, “RiRi, where have you been?”

At the end of the trailer, Rihanna silences all the voices and right on cue, her song “Needed Me” starts to play and she begins to dance.

Fans practically ran to the comments section to share their excitement for the new teaser. One fan commented, “YASSSSSSSS,” with a bunch of heart emojis. Another chimed in and said, “THE ENERGY WE NEED.” Even Black-ish alum Tracee Ellis Ross couldn’t contain her enthusiasm, leaving a bunch of fire emojis underneath the post.

Back in September, Rihanna was named as the performer for the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show. Unlike years prior, Apple Music will be sponsoring the event and taking over for Pepsi, which has been the sponsor since 2013.

The “Lift Me Up” singer confirmed the news on Instagram by sharing a pic of herself holding an NFL football. And in classic Bad Gal RiRi fashion, she simply captioned the photo with a period.

Excuse us while we watch the teaser for the fourth time in a row…
