How Did Queen Rania of Jordan Celebrate Her 50th Birthday?

Queen Rania of Jordan celebrated a major birthday yesterday. So, how did she ring in the big 5-0?

Unfortunately, her options were limited due to the coronavirus pandemic. Still, the festivities likely took place at Al-Maquar (a royal residential complex in Amman), which is where Queen Rania resides with her husband, King Abdullah II of Jordan.

In addition to the royal couple, other expected attendees included their four children: Crown Prince Hussein (26), Princess Iman (23), Princess Salma (19) and Prince Hashem (15).

As for the itinerary, we wouldn’t be surprised if Queen Rania kept it low-key, especially since she recently revealed that she’s always wanted a casual birthday celebration. “On past birthdays, I’ve always wished for more time with my husband and kids—and so far this year, time is all I’ve had!” she told Hello! magazine.

Queen Rania went on to tease her simple plans, adding, “Like so many families, we were grateful to be together, but also heartbroken to see the pain and loss this virus has inflicted on so many around the world. On my birthday, as long as the people I love are nearby, and they are healthy and safe, I could not possibly ask for more.”

And that’s exactly what happened. Queen Rania shared a photo from the birthday celebrations on Instagram, featuring the entire family wearing a black-and-white color scheme. The caption read, “Nothing beats a day spent surrounded with the people you love most. And thank you all for your lovely birthday greetings—you made my day!”

Successful quarantine birthday? Check.
