Mike Tindall’s Secret to Getting the Queen to Laugh

Remember when Mike Tindall cracked up Queen Elizabeth at the 2019 Royal Ascot horse races? Well, there was a perfectly good reason for the joke.

Last year, Tindall (former professional rugby player and husband to the queen’s eldest granddaughter, Zara Phillips) showed off his comedic skills when he greeted Her Majesty at the event.

Tindall’s “hat trick” (literally) involved removing his top hat to the queen, then reaching in and pulling out an even smaller top hat. The 94-year-old seemed to enjoy her grandson-in-law’s efforts, too, because she can be seen laughing after the little tiny top hat is revealed. Watch the video below to see for yourself.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Tindall revealed that it was no ordinary cap. Instead, it was a chocolate hat he was saving for his daughter, Mia (6).

“It is a chocolate hat that I am taking home for my daughter Mia. I was given it at lunch, but it is really annoying to store in a pocket, so I decided to put it in my top hat instead,” he told the outlet.

Yep, this is just the familiar scenario of your quirky uncle trying to make gran laugh with his practical jokes. Ahhh, royal relatives...their family dynamics are actually eerily similar to ours.
