Prince William Posted a Rare Personal Tweet and Even Signed It ‘W’

Royals have historically steered clear of social media for their own personal use (save for Queen Elizabeth's first-ever Instagram and Meghan Markle's caption writing on her and Prince Harry's official @SussexRoyal Instagram account). But Prince William just broke with tradition and decided to try his royal hand at 140 characters.

The Duke of Cambridge shared a rare personal Tweet about the women's World Cup, and even signed it "W." On Thursday evening, the Duke of Cambridge tweeted from the @KensingtonRoyal account: "What a performance @Lionesses, a superb display! The whole country is behind you going into Tuesday’s semi-final, bring it on! W"

The Lionesses, as the Brits call England's female soccer team, are the first to make it through the FIFA women's World Cup quarterfinals after they knocked out Norway with a 3-0 lead in the quarter-finals on Thursday.

As president of England's Football Association, Prince William has always been an avid supporter at British sporting events. No word on whether the duke will make an appearance at any of the final rounds of the tourney.

We're just hoping for more casual "W" updates. And, maybe even a couple "Ks"? Hey, a (royals-obsessed) gal can dream.
