According to the caption, Harry co-hosted the event and spoke to the audience about the threats to the river basin. (Click through the Insta slideshow above to see a photo of the duke speaking on-stage.)
“Millions of people, food security and regional power generation are dependent on these free-flowing rivers," the duke is quoted as saying in the caption. "Threats such as uncontrolled fires, the bushmeat trade, unsustainable harvesting of the forest and rapid biodiversity loss are already destroying this incredible and delicate landscape. Known by the locals as ‘Source of life’, this ecosystem is wilderness at its best, playing an absolutely crucial role for the planet, people and wildlife. This is our one and only chance to save this magnificent last Eden.”
It was recently confirmed by the @SussexRoyal account that Meghan, Harry and Archie would embark on a royal tour of Africa this fall, so it seems Harry is gearing up to turn his words into action and continue his conservation efforts in person.
