Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Donated School and Health Supplies to Children in Nigeria

Prince Harry, 39, and Meghan Markle, 42, are getting to the point where they'll have to start buying pencil pouches and backpacks for their two children (their eldest, Archie, turned four back in May). And with school fresh in their minds, the couple recently made a major donation through their Archewell Foundation.

In a new post on the royal couple’s Archewell site, it was revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex sent essential health supplies, as well as back-to-school supplies, to young girls in Nigeria, in collaboration with the GEANCO Foundation.

The message on the Archewell site read, “As students around the world returned to school this month, The Archewell Foundation supported girls’ education and health by sending school supplies and menstrual products to young scholars in Nigeria with The GEANCO Foundation.”

In case you're unaware, the GEANCO Foundation was founded in 2005 as a way to provide safe healthcare to women in Nigeria, be it through surgical missions or the safe delivery of babies. As the org has grown, they also donate supplies to schools across Nigeria, plus they have a scholarship which provides “full tuition, medical care and professional psychological support to young female victims of terrorism and gender inequality in Nigeria.”

The CEO of GEANCO, Afam Onyema, joined members of the Archewell staff to fill backpacks for students, but that wasn't all. In the Archewell news update, they added, “AWF’s support will also provide menstrual health education for 2,500 girls in the region GEANCO serves, supporting the health and well-being of girls pursuing their education.”

Prince Harry and Markle are very dedicated to helping young people around the world. Just this past February, their foundation also launched the Responsible Technology Youth Power Fund, which is focused on helping young minds shape the future of technology.
