Prince Charles Visits Japan Sans Wife Camilla Parker Bowles

Prince Charles just embarked on a two-day royal tour of Japan without his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles.

Earlier today, the 70-year-old traveled by himself to Tokyo in honor of the Ceremony of Enthronement of Emperor Naruhito. The prince started his day with a visit to the Nezu Museum garden, which has around 7,400 works on display.

While there, Prince Charles browsed the grounds and learned more about the exhibits, all of which highlight Japanese and East Asian art.

The royal family shared a slideshow of photos on their official Instagram account, featuring pics from Prince Charles’s visit to the garden.

The caption read, “The Prince of Wales is visiting Tokyo to attend the Ceremony of Enthronement of Emperor Naruhito, on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen. During the visit, His Royal Highness will also celebrate British-Japanese connections.”

Many royal aficionados were quick to point out that Bowles is noticeably absent from the trip. Although she usually accompanies Prince Charles on royal outings, she decided to stay home for an unknown reason. The decision shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, since Bowles has previously revealed that she’s terrified of flying and, therefore, doesn’t go on every excursion.

On the bright side, Prince Charles is getting some much needed (probably) alone time.
