Before He Was Tyrion, Peter Dinklage Was in a Punk Band…and We Have the Pic

OK OK, we know Game of Thrones is over, but we’re just not quite ready to stop talking about it (or our favorite characters). And when we got wind of this not-so-breaking news about our beloved Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), we had to find out more.

Turns out, before he was Tyrion Lannister, the imp, the (former) hand of the king, the (former) hand of the queen or the now hand of the "Broken King," Peter Dinklage was the co-frontman of a “punk-funk-rap” band called Whizzy. We’re totally serious.

And while his role in Westeros was full of battles, massacres and wars, it was actually during his time in the band that he received battle scars—literally. According to ONE37pm, in a 2013 interview with Playboy, the now 49-year-old actor revealed the recklessness that took place during a show that left him with a scar that runs from his neck to his eyebrow.

“We played a show at CBGB, and I was jumping around onstage and got accidentally kneed in the temple,” he said. “I was like Sid Vicious, just bleeding all over the stage. Blood was going everywhere. I just grabbed a dirty bar napkin and dabbed my head and went on with the show. We didn’t care much about personal safety.” Umm, ouch.

Sure, his performance as one of the Lannister siblings earned him three Emmys, but not too many actors can also say they co-fronted an actual punk-rock band (at least we don't think so).

We didn’t think it was possible, but looks like Peter Dinklage just got even cooler.
