Mark Your Calendars: Here's When You Can Watch the Final Season of ‘Orange Is the New Black’

In news we've known about for a while but still aren't ready to accept, the seventh season of Orange Is the New Black will be its last.

And now we have official word from Netflix on when the final season will air: July 26.

Netflix announced the date with a Twitter video that's equal parts sweet and please-hand-us-the-tissues. In it, members of the cast sing along with Regina Spektor's "You've Got Time."

Per Netflix's description of the final season, “Piper struggles with life on the outside, while life in Max, as corrupt and unjust as ever, goes on without her. Taystee’s friendship with Cindy still hangs in the balance as her life sentence looms, Gloria and her kitchen staff are confronted by the hard truth of Polycon’s newest profit stream, while others chase drugs or dreams and grapple with the reality of their place in this world.”

Speaking of Taystee, we caught up with Brooks and had to ask about her feelings on the show ending. “I was actually shocked when I was receiving the scripts and reading them,” Brooks explained. “I was shocked at how much further they could push these characters, especially Taystee. My mind was blown.”

How far does season seven push Taystee? As Brooks explains, so far that she wasn’t sure she’d be able to rise to the occasion. “In season six, I was like, ‘I don’t know how I’m going to do this,’ and then we get into season seven and I'm like, ‘I really don’t know how I’m going to act this out,’” she admitted.

In the end, she says it all came together.  “We did it and I think people are gonna leave satisfied. I think they’re going to feel full and feel like we’ve answered all the questions that they wanted answered. I think people will still leave feeling hopeful for Taystee at the end of the day.”

For her part, Schilling who plays Piper, told The Hollywood Reporter, “We’ve had a lucky run, but there’s always this part that’s sort of ready for the end. You go in and you begin it ready for the end. It’s a very bittersweet and also beautiful way to exist in the world. So the answer is, yeah. I think I’m ready. I have all the feelings. I’m very excited for what comes next.”

Some more info on that spin-off would be really appreciated right now.
