Nicole Kidman Shares Never-Before-Heard Details About Her Marriage to Tom Cruise

Nicole Kidman is sharing rare details about her marriage to Tom Cruise, and we’re all ears.

During an interview with The New York Times, the Big Little Lies star, 53, opened up about her private relationship, which ended in divorce in 2002. Despite comparisons to the couple’s storyline in Eyes Wide Shut, Kidman revealed that they were happily married while filming the popular movie.

“We were happily married through that,” she said. “We would go go-kart racing after those scenes. We’d rent out a place and go racing at 3 in the morning. I don’t know what else to say. Maybe I don’t have the ability to look back and dissect it. Or I’m not willing to.”

Kidman went on to say that despite popular belief, working with Cruise on Eyes Wide Shut had nothing to do with their impending divorce.

“This is where the fallacy is: We loved working with [director Stanley Kubrick],” she said. “We shot that for two years. We had two kids and were living in a trailer on the lot primarily, making spaghetti because Stanley liked to eat with us sometimes. We were working with the greatest filmmaker and learning about our lives and enjoying our lives on set.”

Eyes Wide Shut eventually premiered in 1999. Two years later, Kidman and Cruise announced their separation after 11 years of marriage. The BLL star is now married to country singer Keith Urban.
