Since news broke of a Downton Abbey movie in the works, we’ve been patiently waiting for bits and pieces of information to be released. OK, so maybe not that patiently, but we’re definitely trying.
Our prayers have been answered because the official Downton Abbey Twitter account shared two brand-new photos.
The original cast from the Masterpiece TV show will return for the big-screen adaptation including Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary), Joanne Froggatt (Anna Bates), Allen Leech (Tom Branson), Hugh Bonneville (Robert Crawley), Maggie Smith (Violet Crawley) and more.
The photos show Lady Mary (Dockery) and Henry Talbot (Matthew Goode) in a romantic moment, Anna (Froggatt) and Bates (Brendan Coyle) sharing a smile and holding hands, and Edith (Laura Carmichael) and Bertie (Harry Hadden-Paton) joined by their daughter returning to Downton Abbey.
Did we mention Violet Crawley (Smith) is making her big return? We worried Smith wouldn’t for the role, but it looks like we can put those rumors behind us (phew).
Directed by Michael Engler and written by Julian Fellowes (creator of the original series), the film is coming to theaters September 20, 2019.
If you need us, we’ll be here rewatching the trailer.
