Get Ready for Sophomore Year: Netflix Renews ‘Sex Education’ for Season 2

You’ll always remember your first, but we’re very excited for the second. Yep, we’re heading back to Moordale High, because Netflix just renewed Sex Education for season two.

The show, which debuted just two weeks ago on January 11, centers around Otis (Asa Butterfield) and his sex-therapist mom, Jean (Gillian Anderson),who navigate their awkward mother-son relationship during Otis’s formative high school years. The announcement comes fresh off the news that 40 million Netflix subscribers have watched the show, which the streaming service revealed this week.

Anderson and Butterfield, plus the original cast of Emma Mackey (Maeve), Ncuti Gatwa (Eric), Aimee Lou Wood (Aimee), Connor Swindells (Adam), Kedar Williams-Stirling (Jackson), Tanya Reynolds (Lily) and Patricia Allison (Ola) are all set to reprise their roles. Season two production is scheduled to begin this spring in the U.K.

The show will return with another eight episodes (same as season one), but the jury’s still out on when we’ll get more Moordale antics.

Until then, though, we have this Mean Girls–esque announcement teaser to hold us over (so long as we can get that Otis face out of our heads)…
