Naomi Osaka is going to be a mom!
Earlier today, the Grand Slam champion surprised all of her followers on Instagram with a photo of a baby sonogram, revealing that she’s pregnant with her first child. “Can’t wait to get back on the court but here’s a little life update for 2023,” Osaka wrote in the caption.
The 25-year-old tennis star pinned an important message (in English and Japanese) alongside the sonogram photo, sharing that she plans to take a break from tennis and return to the sport she loves in the near future. “The past few years have been interesting, to say the least, but I find that it’s the most challenging time in life that may be the most fun,” she wrote in the post. “These few months away from the sport has really given me a new love and appreciation for the game I’ve dedicated my life to.”
She added, “I realize that life is so short and I don’t take any moments for granted, every day is a new blessing and adventure. I know that I have so much to look forward to in the future, one thing I’m looking forward to is for my kid to watch one of my matches and tell some, ‘That’s my mom,’ haha. 2023 will be a year that’ll be full of lessons for me and I hope I’ll see you guys in the start of the next one cause I’ll be at Aus 2024. Love you all infinitely [red heart emoji].”
As a side note, Osaka wanted to end the message with an encouraging sentiment, writing, “I don’t think there’s a perfectly correct path to take in life, but I always felt that if you move forward with good intentions, you’ll find your way eventually.”
Many of her supporters rushed to the comments section to send congratulatory messages to the mom-to-be. One fan wrote, “Congratulations!!! with a bunch of heart emojis. Another said, “What a blessing.”
Osaka is expecting her first child with her current boyfriend, Cordae. The tennis athlete and the famous rapper began seeing each other in 2019. When they first started dating, the couple chose to keep their relationship private and rarely posted about each other on social media. Back in 2019, the two were spotted on their first date at an L.A. Clippers game.
